Waste Management is ahead of the goal it set in 2007 to reduce fleet emissions and increase fuel efficiency by 15% by 2020. According to the company, it has exceeded that goal eight years ahead of schedule. 350 million gallons of fuel were saved and 3.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide eliminated by 2012. The company recently announced it intends to replace 40 vehicles in its Baton Rouge, Louisiana fleet with CNG, and plans to construct a fueling station in Walker, Louisiana.
