Dive Insight:
Car dealerships in the area said there is little to no interest in natural gas-powered vehicles from local consumers. Waste Management currently has over 2,700 compressed natural gas trucks in its fleet, and expects to add enough to transform 80% of its fleet to CNG-powered vehicles by 2020. It has been transitioning fleets throughout the country into CNG vehicles, including a recent announcement to replace 40 trucks in Baton Rouge with natural gas, and the addition of over 20 trucks to its Florida and Washington fleets.
