Waste Management of New Hampshire's bid for Salem transfer station operation and waste hauling was accepted by the Salem Board of Selectmen Monday night.
Selectmen voted unanimously to direct Town Manager Keith Hickey to work out a five-year contract with Waste Management for them to take over operations starting July 1.
With savings and added revenues, Hickey said the town will see a net $75,820 savings with the new contract.
Local waste company LL&S had the low bid for the reinstitution of construction and demolition (C&D) disposal, but selectmen elected not to act on that bid Monday night as there were not enough appropriated budget savings to cover the operation cost....
