- Waste Management, Inc. and aPriori Capital Partners L.P. have announced that the waste and recycling firm has established an agreement to acquire Deffenbaugh Disposal, Inc.
- Deffenbaugh is one of the biggest privately-owned waste haulers in the Midwest. The Kansas City, KS-based company provides services to commercial, residential, and industrial customers in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Nebraska.
- Waste Management will acquire all of Deffenbaugh’s outstanding stock, assets, and real estate.

The deal is expected to close within three months, and the companies will operate independently until the transaction is finalized.
David P. Steiner, the President and CEO of Waste Management, said the deal "affords us the opportunity to expand our service offerings... and enter an attractive market -- Kansas City -- where we currently have very limited presence.”
Deffenbaugh’s assets include routes in Omaha, NE; Topeka, KS; St. Joseph, MO; Northwest Arkansas; as well as a municipal solid waste landfill, one construction and demolition landfill, two material recovery facilities, and seven transfer stations.
