• Cleanup at the Moretown landfill, in Waterbury, VT is suspended pending a state review of a new proposal for groundwater remediation.
• The landfill is awaiting a cap that will allow owner Advanced Disposal to move forward with its plan to expand site operations.
• If the Agency of Natural Resources doesn't approve the groundwater plan, the expansion will most likely not be certified to move forward, says Chris Roy, a lawyer representing Moretown landfill.

Dive Insight:

The landfill lost its state certification and closed in July of 2013. Currently, the only activity conducted at the site consists of water monitoring and odor control. The proposal review could take up to several weeks or months.
