- Call2Recycle will submit its plan by June 1, 2015. The recycler will work with Ace Hardware, Duracell/Gilette/P&G, Dorcy International, Energizer, Interstate Battery, Panasonic, Polaroid, Rayovac, RiteAid, Sony and Varta Microbattery on the program.
- The nation’s largest consumer battery stewardship organization will work in collaboration with 11 companies on the project.
- Vermont is the first state to require disposable battery manufacturers to establish a collection and recycling program for batteries.

Call2Recycle has been part of Vermont’s recycling solution for over 20 years. The recycler operates almost 100 drop-off centers that accept batteries. The battery collection law begins in Vermont on January 1, 2016.
In January, the company announced that battery collection volumes increased again in 2014, marking growth for the 18th consecutive year. The non-profit attributes the success to a growth in consumer awareness about the importance of recycling batteries.
