Calling itself the largest privately-owned scrap metal processor on the East Coast, Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman Recycling owns almost 20 sites after it barreled through a series of strategic expansions throughout the past year. In August 2013, the company opened a $15-million scrap metal recycling facility and export yard located at the Port of Albany, NY. Other acquisitions include a recycling company in Pennsylvania and multiple properties across New York state. The company processes over one million tons of ferrous and 250 million pounds of nonferrous materials annually.
