• This is the fourth acquisition by the company in the past two months. The company is starting to expand into Ohio, and is growing its Pennsylvania business. 
• The company is planning to demolish Capital Scrap in order to build a new plant. Upstate Shredding has extended employment to the 10 people who work at Capital Scrap.

Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman, based in Owego, N.Y., is the largest privately-held scrap metal processor and recycling center on the East Coast. The company processes over 250 million pounds of metals and recently bought a recycling company in Mt. Morris, Penn. In August, it opened a $15-million scrap metal recycling facility at the Port of Albany in New York.
