Dive Brief:
- An unknown individual broke into the La Crosse County landfill in Wisconsin and took an ATV for a spin. Police suspect some wayward teens broke into the landfill, possibly by jumping over the fence.
- Workers noticed the vehicle was moved and as they arrived for work; it was on its side and appeared as if it was used to make doughnuts at the site.
- A small amount of damage was reported, but the solid waste director said it could have been much worse had the criminals damaged a liner.
Dive Insight:
This landfill is no stranger to break-ins; prior to this issue, almost 20 cows broke into the site and ate the grass growing on the 350-acre landfill.
