• TerraCycle, headquartered in Trenton, NJ, has partnered with Open Farm, a pet food company, to start a recycling project for plastic dog food bags.
• Consumers can send in used bags to be recycled once they’ve collected two pounds or more of Open Farm bags. There is no charge for the "Open Farm Brigade" service.
• Over 95% of dog food bags are tossed into landfills.

The recycling process involves weighing the bags at a warehouse in Toronto, Canada, sorting the materials, and recycling them into various products. The bags will then be transformed into plastic lumber, park benches, and food and water bowls for pets. 

For each bag that’s diverted from a landfill, TerraCycle will make a donation to the participating customer's favorite charity.
