• The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) named David Biderman as its executive director and CEO. He replaces John H. Skinner, who announced his retirement in December.
• Biderman will step into his new role at SWANA on May 1. 
• Before joining SWANA, Biderman acted as General Counsel and Vice President of Government Affairs at the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA); he worked at NWRA for 18 years.

Officials from both SWANA and NWRA are said to be excited about the potential for collaboration in the future. Bidermansaid he is optimistic that the associations will work together, "I’m hopeful there will be increased opportunities for collaboration …"

Brian Tippetts, President of SWANA, said the association "updated its strategic management plan for our vision of the future…" New goals at SWANA include a focus on public education, training and enhancing its offerings to the industry.
