• A study conducted by the College of Charleston found that the recycling industry has a $13 billion impact on South Carolina’s economy.
• The industry generated $13 billion in 2013, effectively doubling its numbers since 2006, when the impact in the state was measured at $6.6 billion. 
• The number of recycling businesses grew since 2006, and went from 340 companies involved with recycling in 2006 to 524 in 2014.
