Dive Insight:
Solterra was formed when CEO Ed Apuzzi and COO Joe LoVerde teamed with a private equity firm to acquire Central Jersey Waste and Recycling in 2014. Both executives formerly ran northeast operations for Progressive Waste and have announced big plans for acquisition and growth.
"We are excited to continue building and strengthening our footprint in New Jersey," said Apuzzi in a statement. "This acquisition reflects our strategy of building density and scale in markets we know well."
The company currently offers non-hazardous solid waste, organic waste and recyclables collection and hauling services. It services 400,000 households and 2,000 commercial accounts in 30 municipalities across New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.
