Dive Insight:
Sims has demonstrated a solid commitment to e-waste recycling, so its recognition of Unisys is a big deal. In June of 2014, Sims announced it was restructuring its e-waste recycling systems unit, Sims Recycling Solutions. The changes were prompted by legislation and market pressures in the UK and Canada. The company said the move was aimed at consolidating its electronics division and would not affect operations in other countries.
Sims also acquired portable shredding equipment last summer. The mobile shredders are capable of destroying up to 1,200 computer hard drives daily.
