Central Maui Municipal Solid Waste landfill was cited by the DOH for three counts of permit violations for failure to maintain leachate levels, as well as failure to monitor and record the levels after a storm. Before this settlement was finalized, the DOH initially levied a fine of $121,900 against the site.
Molokai Integrated Solid Waste Management facility was cited by the health department on two counts for failure to minimize waste and add daily cover to the site. An initial penalty of $20,955 was assessed prior to the final settlement.
