City officials in Seattle are pondering the possibility of switching garbage service to every-other-week in an effort to save money and increase recycling, the Associated Press reported.
The move would save the city about $6 million annually, and it would possibly keep 1,400 tons of waste each year out of the landfill, the AP reported.
The City Council is deciding whether to test the concept on 800 single-family homes this summer. If the project is successful, it could be rolled out city-wide, the AP reported. A committee is scheduled to vote on the issue in May.
