Schupan & Sons Inc. said it is buying the South Bend, Ind., metal recycling facility of Shapiro Metals Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Schupan said in a news release that with the recent shrinking of the recreational vehicle industry, the deal makes sense for both companies. Shapiro will concentrate on growth in other areas of the country and Schupan can fully utilize its industrial scrap processing capacity in Elkhart, Ind., which is near South Bend. The company operates 10 facilities in the Midwest.
