- Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc. said that odor complaints against its Colerain Township landfill are dropping.
- The main odor issues are prevalent in a particular section of the site, and Rumpke said the problem was contained using a liner, odor-control blanket, trenching and a neutralizing mist.
- In 2013, the company requested that the state Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) let Rumpke install an extra odor neutralizer at the site, roughly 2,700 gallons of odor neutralizer mixed with more than 2.7 million gallons of water monthly. The company said it has not yet had to increase the use of odor neutralizer.

Rumpke said that the Colerain Township landfill is one of the largest in the U.S. The site accommodates the Cincinnati, OH area, accepting up to 10,000 tons of waste per day.
