- Republic Services Inc. has added 18 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to its fleet in the St. Louis, MO area.
- The waste and recycling company now has 99 CNG trucks servicing the St. Louis region.
- Republic has a CNG fueling station in the area to sustain the fleet’s needs.
Dive Insight:
Republic seems to be going big on CNG. Half of the trucks Republic added to its fleets in cities ranging from Anaheim, CA to Fall River, MA in 2013 use CNG. Last year, the company had more than 1,400 CNG trucks across the country, in addition to 26 natural gas fueling stations.
According to Republic spokespeople, the company plans to have at least 3,100 trucks running on CNG and other alternative fuels by the end of 2015.
