Dive Brief:
- Diversified Recycling’s facility in Norcross, GA, allegedly contracted with a company that discarded of cathode ray tube (CRT) glass at a landfill.
- The accusations stem from an investigation conducted by Basel Action Network (BAN) as the company applied for acceptance into the e-Stewards program.
- BAN became suspicious when it was going over documents from a different Diversified facility in Orlando, FL.
Dive Insight:
The construction and debris site where the CRT was delivered was not authorized to accept the glass. BAN notified Diversified that it is suspended for two years from applying for the e-Stewards certification standard as a result of the alleged findings.
The BAN report also alleged that Diversified had been selling used electronics online without proper safeguards proving they had been tested and were functional.
