Dive Brief:
- Geo-Tech Polymers Inc. will use a $34,000 grant received from Fluor-B&W Portsmouth LLC to expand its plastics recycling facility in Waverly, OH.
- The plant recycles a few kinds of plastic, which are then "repelletized" at the facility. The company also uses an innovative water-based process to remove coatings from post-industrial and consumer plastics.
- The grant will be used toward increasing the volume of plastic being recycled and to grow its 50,000-square foot plant.
Dive Insight:
The goal behind the grant from Fluor-B&W is to improve the regional economy in south Ohio by reinvesting in local businesses.
In January, Vadxx Energy secured funding for a commercial plastics WTE facility to be constructed in Cleveland, OH. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2015.
