• Panasonic Corporation created a recycling technology that sorts and collects three different types of plastics from shredded dust generated by consumer electronics recycling facilities.
• The accepted plastics are polypropylene, polystyrene and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. The materials are sorted at a 99% rate of accuracy. 
• The new technology works at three times the rate of systems currently in use. 

Dive Insight:

Previously, the dust created from the process was considered waste or was used as fuel. In 2010, Panasonic created a new technology that allowed the company to collect and recycle plastics from the dust. The system is installed at the Panasonic Eco Technology Center, and is expected to be used at other company-owned plants in the future.
