Dive Insight:
There’s a market and demand in collection and recycling of organic yard waste in many parts of the country, like Virginia, where the market has not been saturated. Organics recycling is an overall practice that is increasing in the industry, becoming a focal point for many companies who wish to divert waste from landfills and reach a zero waste status.
Many states, like California, are mandating the implementation of yard waste diversion policies to promote other uses for the material while being environmentally conscious.
"The acquisition of Waltrip Recycling allows us to serve thousands of new residential and commercial customers in the Historic Triangle," said Robbie Urbine, Yard Works chief operating officer. He added, "Yard Works is looking forward to continuing [Larry Waltrip’s] vision of customer service and quality products that he started delivering in 1991."
