Hartford Supervisor Dana Haff said Tuesday that constituents have told him that employees at transfer stations were accepting trash for free April 20, the last day the five stations were under county operation.
Vermont-based Earth Waste and Metal took over operations at the transfer stations the following Monday.
County Administrator Kevin Hayes told the county Board of Supervisors Public Works Committee on Tuesday that it appears some of the five now-laid-off employees accepted an unknown amount of garbage that day for free, perhaps as retribution for losing their jobs. ...
