From the article:
Palm Beach County commissioners said Wednesday that they would consider beefing up rules governing solid waste disposal, to discourage haulers from trucking homegrown trash — and the dumping fees that go with it — to Broward County.
The commission, sitting as the governing board of the county’s Solid Waste Authority, stopped short of taking any formal action and instead told authority managers that they take up the rule changes at a future meeting.
The push comes after the waste authority alleged for the second time in just over a year that a hauler incorrectly hauled thousands of tons of trash from Palm Beach County to a Broward recycling facility. The move cost the authority more than $119,000 in dumping fees, managers have said.
The county’s inspector general has been asked to investigate both cases.
