Following the installation of new equipment from Cookstown, Northern Ireland based waste waster treatment specialist, CDEnviro, SITA UK's Neatchells Lane facility in Wolverhampton will now be able to recycle road sweepings and gully arisings.
According to CDEnviro, prior to the installation of the plant all such material passing through the facility was taken directly to landfill.
The company said that it is now estimates that 98% of the road sweepings entering the plant will be recycled for use in various products such as sand, washed aggregate and compostable material which will be recovered from the incoming road sweeping waste using the technology.
