The EPA is responsible for continued oversight regarding the West Lake landfill while the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is in charge of overseeing the Bridgeton Landfill, including the fire that has continued to smolder underground since 2010. The Bridgeton landfill is owned by Republic Services.
