- Michael Lion, a longtime trader with Sims Metal Management, will not have his contract renewed, according to a report.
- Sims Metal Management will let its contract with Lion Consulting, of Hong Kong, end Sept. 30, according to American Metal Market. A seasoned nonferrous trader for Sims, Lion has worked for the company since 1997.
- William Schmeidel and Fred Knechtel, who are Sims executives based in New York, will handle Sims’ duties after his contract ends.

Lion’s imminent departure from New York-based Sims is the third such loss of an executive from the company in recent months. The company’s managing director of European Metals, Robert Kelman, will retire at the end of this month. Arron McGree, the firm’s managing director of Australia and New Zealand Markets, also will retire June 30.
