- Daniel Morkert allegedly jumped into the Western Disposal truck while it was on its route emptying dumpsters. The alleged criminal drove the truck onto U.S. 36.
- Police tailed the truck, eventually using "stop sticks" to render the truck un-drivable. The truck stopped on the median in Broomfield and the man was arrested by police on the scene.

The alleged criminal is being charged with auto theft, careless driving and eluding a police officer. The police also mentioned the driver did not yield at traffic signals, didn't stop at stop signs and made improper lane changes.
In another recent incident, a man fled from police at speeds topping 100 miles per hour after witnesses saw the man rifling through garbage cans. That man was charged with multiple felonies. The police found a bag containing recyclables when after searching his vehicle.
