An 18-year-old local man was arrested twice on Saturday after police said he was first caught stealing rain gutters and downspouts from his neighbor's yard, then did the same with copper piping at a vacant residence on Main Street.
Robert Authelet, 18, of 433 North Main St., was charged with third-degree burglary and two counts each of sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief. He is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Danielson on May 7.
Around 5:30 a.m., a passing motorist called police to report she had seen two young men walking with what appeared to be scrap metal. She told police they were looking into driveways and walking around to homes in the area.
