Dive Brief:

• American Capital Energy (ACE) has started work on the largest group of landfill solar projects ever constructed and financed within the US.
• The projects will be located on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. 
• During the first year in use, the projects are expected to produce 28,578MWh of electricity when combined; this is enough energy to power 3,797 households.

Thomas Hunton, the president and CEO of ACE, told PV Tech: "American Capital Energy is pleased to develop and construct solar projects on landfills. Solar deployed on landfills is the perfect application. Covering all of the capped landfills and brownfields in the United States with solar could make enough electricity to power our nation on sunlight alone." 

Solar panels seem to be a hot commodity in Massachusetts right now. This week, thieves struck at one of the ACE sites in Brewster, Massachusetts.
