- The City-Parish Council in Lafayette, LA voted to increase cumulative fines for residents if a household fails to remove its trash bins within a 24 hour timeframe. The city also voted to fine Allied Waste, the town's contracted hauler, if it doesn't pick-up trash at an address within 24 hours of being alerted it missed a bin.
- In addition, the hauler could face fines for skipping yard waste or bulk pick-up, according to environmental quality manager Mark Pope.
- The fine for Allied totals $25 each day the infringement occurs per address.
