Dive Insight:
Owner Kurt Kanable says he attempted to find a way to transfer customer accounts to a company that would handle the payments that were made. He said that he tried to keep running the business, selling pieces of his company in order to continue providing services to paying customers that remained. Both companies that bought assets from Kanable said that they are honoring all customer prepayments.
Waste Management was involved to some extent, but a spokesperson said that it can not confirm or deny statements from Kanable. On January 10, the Tippecanoe Waste Removal Company's website alerted customers that all remaining customer accounts were transferred to Waste Management. Waste Management issued a press release, saying the company had not entered into a contract with Kanable's company.
