Name: HP Nanda
New title: CEO of Heritage Environmental Services
Previous title: CEO of Grundfos Water Utility
Heritage Environmental Services is getting a new CEO a few months after EQT Infrastructure acquired a majority stake in the company, HES announced Tuesday. Current CEO Jeff Laborsky is transitioning to the HES board of directors as part of the shift, which takes effect April 1.
“HES is at a pivotal growth moment in our company's history, and HP brings a unique blend of experience and innovative leadership style that will guide us forward as we enter this next chapter of progress. He shares our passion for protecting human health and the environment and his expertise will be invaluable to the team,” Laborsky said in a statement.
Based in Indianapolis, HES employs more than 1,600 people and provides industrial waste management services, emergency support and sustainability services through its 37 facilities. The company offers a range of disposal options: seven treatment, storage and disposal facilities for hazardous waste, a hazardous waste landfill, two incinerators and others, according to its sustainability report.
HES began as a family-owned operation in 1970, and will remain a “stand-alone platform” under EQT's ownership, according to the release Tuesday. It’s been swept up in a wave of private equity money from entities like EQT, which has expanded into environmental services in recent years through the acquisition of Covanta and previous investments in Synagro and RTI, among others.
Prior to his most recent role, Nanda spent 24 years working his way up at DuPont. He served in a variety of roles at the company in the U.S., China, Taiwan and India, and his last role was global vice president and general manager for DuPont Water Solutions, according to his Grundfos biography.
“I truly look forward joining the team at HES and admire their purposeful mission rooted in sustainability,” Nanda said in a statement. “I'm honored to build upon this legacy of stewardship as we become an even stronger industrial partner and environmental advocate.”
