Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company announced that they will receive a "Green Initiative" award from Inside Business, a local publication in Northeast Ohio. The award is in recognition of Goodyear's Zero Waste to Landfill Program.
As part of a company initiative, Goodyear has not sent any manufacturing waste from its 53 factories to landfills since 2008. The initiative was started in 2006 and is designed to reduce Goodyear's environmental impact by mandating that all plants reduce, reuse, and recycle manufacturing waste.
"Goodyear believes our Zero Waste to Landfill initiative represents a responsible next step in environmental stewardship, both through the effective management of byproducts and also the elimination of materials going into landfills," said Dave Chapman , Goodyear's Director of Environmental, Health and Safety Sustainability. "As part of our corporate mission, we strive to take care of our environment and communities, and achieving Zero Waste to Landfill is a win for both.
