A man driving a sanitation truck for Total Waste Management in Heyburn, Idaho was operating the truck as it was struck by a train.

The driver began crossing the railroad tracks noticed the oncoming train, then tried to back up over the tracks, but the train crashed into the front of the vehicle.

The driver was not injured and the vehicle was only damaged slightly; the train itself had minor damage to its handrail and snowblade, and no injuries were reported by train employees.
Dive Insight:
Officials said that if the driver had not managed to reverse off of the tracks at all, he most likely would have been killed.
