Dive Brief:
- To get in the holiday spirit and thank their customers for a wonderful year, Florida's City of North Port Solid Waste Division recorded a lip-sync video to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas is You."
- "Our solid waste drivers wanted to say thank you to the community in a special way," reads the caption on the video. "What better way to say thanks and bring a smile to someone's face, than make a fun Christmas lip syncing video."
- As of Wednesday morning, the video had more than 2,200 views on YouTube.
Dive Insight:
Connecting with customers during the holidays — especially in fun and unique ways — is key for companies to build relationships with the community. Alliance Refuse Trucks created a similar PR video for their customers, proving that waste industry professionals can definitely have a fun side.
Some trash haulers are spreading holiday joy in personal ways, as well. Tommy Bettale and Juan Ramirez, Jr., two trash haulers for Denver Public Works Department, surprised Denver-area brothers, ages five and two, with new garbage truck toys for Christmas.
"They love that trash truck very much. They're very excited every time we pass by. They come out every week, faithfully, and they enjoy us. And we also enjoy them. That's why it made us feel like we had to do this this year," said Ramirez.
