Several states have been outspoken regarding the act, prompting bans against state-funded travel. The event producer said the current issue unfolding in Indiana prevents the company from offering a "valuable experience" to attendees, and apologized for the inconvenience. 

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has been confirmed that FME 2016 will take place in Charleston, SC in 2016 as part of SWANApalooza.
