A fire that ignited early this morning at a Kansas City recycling processing center is expected to continue to burn for most of the morning.
Firefighters have contained the fire, which has been burning since before 2 a.m., and brought it under control. No injuries have been reported, said Chief Fire Marshal Floyd Peoples, a spokesman for the Kansas City Fire Department.
“The fire is not going to be out for quite awhile,” Peoples said. “We will be here for most of the morning.”
Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 2 a.m. at the Material Recovery & Transfer center at 4020 Winchester Ave., just west of I-435 near the Truman Sports Complex.
