Dive Brief:
- Dell computers are increasingly being made of recycled computer plastic. From July 2014 through March, the computer manufacturer used 2.89 million pounds of plastic e-waste in its new computers.
- Dell started a pilot program to use recycled computer plastic last summer. The firm partnered with Wistron GreenTech, in an effort through which computer plastics are gathered from e-waste return programs which Dell has in countries across the globe. The waste is sent to China, for processing and blending with virgin plastic.
- The company’s Dell Reconnect program is a decade-long partnership that the company has with Goodwill. The program enables consumers to return computers and computer parts for recycling.

Dell believes such efforts will ultimately made law.
"Our attitude is, sooner or later this will be mandated," said Trisa Thompson, Dell’s vice-president of corporate responsibility. "Let’s get ahead of this."
