The Cypress, California City Council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a microsite recycling center to be located in the parking lot of a local Costco.
The council had previously required Costco to accept recyclables as a condition for its initial building permits. The volume handled by the store had grown to the point where Costco was looking for relief in the form of the center operated by a third party.
The recycling center will be run by NexCycle and will take up only two parking spaces. It will pay cash onsite for glass and plastic bottles plus aluminum cans.
