Dive Brief:

• A subsidiary of Commercial Metals, Structural Metals Inc., announced it will acquire Newell Recycling of San Antonio.
• In accordance with the agreement, CMC will receive some of Newell's assets, including a shredder. 
• The purchase should be finalized by June 13, 2014.

The agreement will provide CMC with a larger San Antonio footprint, as Newell Recycling will generate raw materials for CMC to use at its Texas facility. The acquisition is part of a larger company strategy by CMC to expand in the central Texas region.
