Clean World Partners and Atlas Disposal Industries will break ground tomorrow on an organic waste recycling center in Sacramento.
Initially planned to convert 25 tons of food waste daily, the facility will expand to process 100 tons of wastes per day in 2013. When complete, the facility will be the country's largest commercial high-solids anaerobic digestion system.
Projections indicate that the facility will produce renewable natural gas equivalent to 1 million gallons of diesel and 2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year.
