- Shaw Industries Group, based in Dalton, GA, announced it will expand its carpet recycling and reclamation program. The project is valued at $17 million and includes a new facility in Ringgold, GA.
- Shaw, a carpet and flooring manufacturer, said it has recycled 700 million pounds of carpet fibers since 2006 through a program it implemented to recover used carpeting.
- The facility will be capable of producing post-consumer recycled material used in a variety of ways.

The plant is expected to begin operations sometime in 2015. Fiber recycling appears to be gaining momentum in small pockets across the county; both turf and textiles can be recycled and repurposed, an important step in diverting these materials from landfills.
