- Caraustar Industries Inc. announced an agreement to purchase the Newark Group, a fabricator of 100% recycled paperboard. Caraustar, headquartered in Austell, GA, is one of the largest providers of 100% recycled paperboard in the U.S.
- The Newark Group, based in Cranford, NJ is a manufacturer of paperboard, linerboard and packaging materials made from recycled fibers.
- Caraustar provides recycled boxboard for end-use across four main categories, including tubes and cores, folding cartons, gypsum facing paper and specialty products made from paperboard.

The Newark Group operates recycling plants and over 20 manufacturing facilities throughout North America. Caraustar services the southern states, but is expanding its reach with its new acquisitions—the Newark Group has facilities in the Northeast, Midwest, South and West Coast.
M&A is an ongoing trend in the paper recycling industry. Last week, recycled paper manufacturer Atlas Paper announced its plans to acquire Accurate Paper Recycling.
