Dive Brief:
- Robert C. Boucher Jr. was recently named the new CEO and president of Wheelabrator Technologies. He'll start his new job on July 13, succeeding Mark A. Weidman, who served the company for 25 years.
- Wheelabrator Technologies Board Chairman Tyler Reeder said the company thanks Weidman for his work, which helped the firm expand. "He has driven a best-in-class operating culture that permeates all Wheelabrator facilities and teams," Reeder said. "[Weidman] also led the company’s successful international expansion, leaving behind the nearly-complete, state-of-the-art Ferrybridge (West Yorkshire) energy-from-waste facility and a strong development pipeline in the UK."
- Boucher has worked in the industry for more than two decades, having served with Transpacific Industries Group Ltd., Synagro Technologies, American Waste Systems, and Waste Management.
Dive Insight:
With all of his industry experience, Boucher seems to be an appropriate choice to replace Weidman.
Weidman will serve as a consultant in the transition period with its customers, partners, and communities, reports Waste Management World.
Waste Management finalized the sale of Wheelabrator to private equity firm Energy Capital Partners at the end of last year, existing as a standalone company and keeping Waste Management as a customer.
