Dive Insight:
Best Buy retail stores will continue to recycle a majority of consumer electronics free of charge. In a survey conducted on behalf of Best Buy, it was determined that 61% of people don’t recycle electronics because they don’t know where they can take them.
Other barriers standing in the way of consumer e-waste recycling includes the costs associated with recycling and the general hassle of the process. Older cathode ray tube television sets are in particular need of recycling, while the recycling needs of the future will most likely be focused on mobile phones and later-generation TVs.
