- Ross Disposal Services, of Decatur, IL, recently was bought by Ponte Vedra-based Advanced Disposal. Terms of the sale were not released.
- Ross Disposal serves commercial and residential customers in Decatur, an area that Advanced Disposal also currently serves. The buy is the sixth company acquired by Advanced Disposal this year.
- So far this year, Advanced Disposal has bought Hornback Recycling & Disposal Inc.; Rea Ridge Waste Management LLC; Little Hoppers; and Rock Disposal Inc.
Dive Insight:
Unlike the currently pinched recycling business, waste disposal is profitable, experts say. Part of the profit is driven by a strong market for new housing. Construction adds materials to the waste stream that are profitable for companies to dispose of, and Advanced Disposal is using some of those revenues to grow.
