Ohio officials and the federal government have reached agreement on a $5.5 million settlement to clean up pollutants dumped into the Ashtabula River and harbor over the last 50 years.
18 companies will share in the costs and several federal agencies will also contribute $800,000 each to restore the river. The funds will be used to buy property along the river and habitat restoration projects.
