Minneapolis, Minn. – Eureka Recycling welcomes everyone to attend an exceptional gathering of leaders from the zero-waste movement on Friday, September 18th from 12:30 to 6:30 PM at The Brave New Workshop in downtown Minneapolis. General tickets are $20 ($10 for students) and include locally made, light fare. Sponsorship tickets, which cover entry, two drink tickets, and a scholarship for another attendee, are available for $100. (Link for tickets: http://bit.ly/1MQdYym.) And because it matters, those who arrive by bus, LRT, or bike will get a free pass to a future Brave New Workshop Show!
Eureka Recycling is on a mission to demonstrate that waste is completely preventable. In bringing together people whose ambitions align with this goal at the Summit, Eureka seeks to advance the conversation and strengthen the growing Zero Waste movement.
Their Zero Waste Summit takes an unconventional approach. Speaker panels will address themes relevant to the issue and individuals will present their ideas in five minutes or less, providing the background and launch point for attendees to share ideas.
“We want attendees to get information and thoughts from the people who really live the vision of zero waste,” says event organizer and Eureka’s Chief of Community Engagement, Lynn Hoffman, “but equally important will be the time to connect and collaborate so we can take action while inspiration is still fresh in our hearts and minds.”
Eureka has assembled an impressive list of eighteen (18) experts and innovators to speak, including:
Monica Wilson - US and Canada Program Director, Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA)
Ahmina Maxey - Community Outreach Coordinator, Zero Waste Detroit
Olga Lyandres - Research Manager, Alliance for the Great Lakes
Amanda LaGrange - Marketing Director, Tech Dump St Paul
Tracy Sides - Director, Urban Oasis
Susan Hubbard - Principal, Nothing Left to Waste
Andres Salinas - Membership Services Coordinator, Latino Economic Development Center
Jeff Freeland Nelson- YOXO Toy Company
Eartha Bell - Executive Director, Frogtown Farm
“Zero waste is more than an empty garbage can,” notes Hoffman. “The way we consume accounts for almost half of the CO2 that threatens the things we hold as most important; healthy food, abundant resources, clean air and water, safe and reliable products, and healthy families and communities. It is the crisis of our time and Zero Waste is the ready solution. We need as many people as possible to be part of the movement. That’s why we’re hosting the Summit.”
